How It Works

The Dental Pod uses 42,000-Hz ultrasonic waves to create millions of microscopic bubbles that rapidly expand and collapse in a process called cavitation. This cleaning action happens up to 4,000 times per second, reaching deep into tiny crevices and hard-to-clean areas to remove plaque, bacteria, and grime from your dental appliance without the need for scrubbing or harsh chemicals. 

To ensure a safe and effective clean every time, the Dental Pod features dynamic feedback technology that automatically adjusts the ultrasonic frequency based on the amount of water and the type of appliance inside.

How to Use It

  1. Pour clean tap water into the stainless steel chamber until it reaches the fill line.
  2. Place your dental appliance—such as a retainer, aligner, night guard, or denture—into the chamber. Make sure it's fully submerged.
  3. (Optional) For a deeper clean, drop in a Zima Sterilizing Tablet before starting the cycle.
  4. Gently close the lid to help contain splashes.
  5. Press the power button once to begin the 5-minute ultrasonic cleaning cycle. The device will automatically shut off when finished.
  6. Carefully remove your appliance and rinse it under clean water. Let it air dry or dry with a clean cloth before use.

Is the Dental Pod FSA/HSA eligible?

Yes, the Dental Pod is FSA/HSA eligible with a range of providers.

Can you put two appliances in the Dental Pod at once?

Yes, the Dental Pod is designed to effectively clean a pair of appliances at the same time. However, we don’t recommend cleaning appliances from multiple patients at the same time, as this can increase the risk of infection.

What temperature water should I use?

Always use cold tap water in your Dental Pod. Using hot water when you start a cleaning cycle means there’s a risk that the water temperature can rise above the recommended safe level for some oral appliance manufacturers. Please note that the Dental Pod has an active heat regulation system to mitigate this risk.

Can I run multiple cleaning cycles?

Yes, you can run up to two consecutive cycles, as long as you only use cold water. If you’d like to run additional cycles, you must replace the water and wait at least 5 minutes to ensure the longevity of your appliance and your Dental Pod.

Should I clean my dental appliance every day?

Yes, daily cleaning of your oral appliance with the Dental Pod is recommended to ensure oral hygiene. Its ultrasonic method is safe for all appliance types and can be used regularly without causing any damage.

Can I leave my appliance in the Dental Pod overnight?

The Dental Pod can act as a great storage solution for your appliance, but we recommend pouring out the solution before doing this to keep your appliance hygienic.

Can I share the Dental Pod with my partner/family?

Yes, you can share your Dental Pod. However, please note that this can increase the risk of infection. To reduce this risk, change the water and clean the Dental Pod between uses. We also strongly recommend using our sterilizing tablets to prevent the transfer of bacteria and other pathogens between users.

Who should not use the Dental Pod?

The Zima Dental Pod is designed to work with most oral appliances, but it’s not compatible with myTAP or other larger oral appliances, as they don't fit inside the pod. Additionally, if you don’t use any type of oral appliance, you likely won’t need the Dental Pod.
