A small shift in your jaw can make a big difference in how you sleep. The SomnoFit-S is an FDA-cleared mandibular advancement device (MAD) that works by gently shifting your lower jaw forward to help keep your airway open while you sleep. This simple adjustment can reduce snoring and improve nighttime breathing.

Made in Switzerland from flexible biomedical polymers, it’s designed to be discreet, comfortable, and easy to wear. A patented adjustment band lets your jaw move naturally, so it feels less restrictive than other mouthguards.

How It Works

The SomnoFit-S works by gently moving your lower jaw forward—a technique known as mandibular advancement. This slight shift helps keep your airway open while you sleep, which can reduce snoring and make breathing easier.

To customize the fit, you mold the mouthpiece at home using the boil-and-bite method, so it fits your bite comfortably. Boil water, soften the mouthpiece, and bite down. If needed, it can be remolded by repeating the process

How to Use It

Once the mouthpiece is molded to your bite, wear the SomnoFit-S each night before bed. To help ease the adjustment, try wearing it for an hour or two before bedtime while you go about your usual routine—you can still talk and drink thanks to the flexible, adjustable straps.

Make sure to brush your teeth beforehand. It may take a few nights to get fully comfortable, and that’s totally normal. Start slowly if needed, and with time, wearing it will become second nature, especially once you notice how much easier it is to breathe (and sleep).

What if it doesn’t fit quite right?

If the mouthpiece feels uncomfortable or doesn’t stay in place, it may need to be remolded. Boil water, soften the mouthpiece, and re-bite down to create a better fit.

Why am I producing more saliva?

It’s common to notice extra saliva when you first start using the device. This usually goes away after a few nights as your mouth gets used to it. Make sure the fit feels secure and comfortable.

What if I’m still snoring?

If you’re still snoring, check that the device is positioned properly and that it’s gently moving your lower jaw forward. If it’s not, try adjusting the strap or remolding the mouthpiece for a better fit.

How do the adjustable straps work?

You can choose which of the patented adjustable straps you use based on your jaw’s anatomy. The straps are numbered 1 to 5, with a higher number indicating a tighter fit. Start with the following:

  • If you have an overbite, use strap number 1 or 2.
  • If you have an underbite, use strap number 5.
  • If you have a common bite, start with strap number 3 or 4.

From there, you can adjust the straps as follows:

  • If snoring persists, choose a strap of superior value such as increasing from strap number 4 to 5.
  • If the pressure exerted on the jaw is too strong and causes discomfort, opt for a less potent strap such as strap number 3.
  • Each tension strap should be worn at least three to five nights prior to further increases.

Do mouthguards help with snoring?

Yes, mouthguards can help reduce snoring. Mouthguards like the Somnofit-S are mandibular advancement devices (MADs), meaning they physically push the tongue and lower jaw forward to widen your airway. This decreases the vibrations that can cause snoring when the airway is narrower.

Are anti-snoring mouthguards safe?

Yes, anti-snoring mouthguards are safe and considered medical devices. That said, you should talk to your doctor before using an anti-snoring mouthguard for the first time. People with loose teeth, dental implants, gum disease, and other oral health issues may need to consider a different treatment for snoring.

Can a nightguard cause snoring?

Yes, in certain cases, a mouthguard can cause or increase snoring. This typically occurs when the device is not properly fitted for the user's mouth, or the mouthguard is not specifically designed for people with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). People who snore should use a custom-fitted anti-snoring mouthguard intended to treat snoring and other symptoms of OSA.

Bought them all - keeping this one

I bought the three top products of this type when doing internet searches and tried them all.

The snoreRx was way too big for my mouth so it was out.

The Quiet lab worked but did not have the custom fit that this one does so it pushed against a single tooth and made it wiggle so I am recovering from that... Good value choice if money is an issue.

This one fits perfect and can be refit a couple times if necessary. I am worried about the longevity of the bands but full sets can be purchased for 15 bucks or so so and using the band one larger or smaller is fine while you wait to get the new full set that you will only use one band from...:-(

Overall, this one is the one I am keeping and the extra 50-100 bucks is not an issue if you are trying to stop snoring. It does not work 100% but it works enough to get my wife back in my bed able to sleep next to me again and I notice a significant difference in how I feel in the morning.

I am only one data point for you so take this as what it is, just one data point.

    Maybe it works

I have only been able to keep this in my mouth for a max of 3 hours. The pain in my teeth and jaw wakes me up and I have to remove it. I am using the number 1 attachment which is the longest. It is just too uncomfortable to sleep with.

I have a snore app that charts my snoring levels. When I was able to wear the device, my snoring was decreased but it is just too painful to wear.

    Spotty Results

A week or so in. It reduced snoring a couple of nights and made my snoring less frequent, but louder a couple of other nights.
