Many alternative sleep apnea treatments do not use replaceable components. If a device without replacement parts begins to show signs of wear, it is usually a sign that you should replace the entire device.

You can usually find a suggested replacement schedule in the user manual if your device uses replaceable components. If you can’t find any guidance in the user manual, or if your device didn’t come with a manual, the manufacturer’s website might have the information you’re looking for.

While many insurance providers offer coverage for CPAP alternatives, the specifics of that coverage — including coverage for replacement parts — can vary significantly between providers. Sleep Doctor does not currently accept insurance payments for CPAP alternatives. However, we will provide you with documentation you can submit to your provider for reimbursement.

Although many CPAP alternatives are only available with a prescription, you do not need a prescription to buy replacement parts for your device. Replacement parts are available over the counter because they are not a medical device in and of themselves.
