What is Bongo Rx?

Bongo Rx is an expiratory positive airway pressure (EPAP) device that is used to treat obstructive sleep apnea. EPAP devices are a new type of positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy that uses your own exhaled air to create pressure and keep your airways open while you sleep. Using the Bongo Rx is as simple as slipping two connected valves into your nostrils before bed. Unlike other types of PAP therapy, the Bongo Rx fits in your pocket and does not require tubing, masks, or even electricity.

Who can use the Bongo Rx?

You may be a good candidate for Bongo Rx if you:
-Have mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea
-Cannot adjust to other forms of PAP therapy
-Travel regularly or spend time in places without electricity
-Breathe through your nose while you sleep

However, Bongo Rx isn’t right for everyone. If you’re curious, your healthcare provider or sleep specialist can walk you through the pros and cons of EPAP therapy and determine whether it’s right for you.

How do I clean my Bongo Rx?

You should clean the Bongo Rx after every use. There’s no need to disassemble it — just wash it gently with unscented soap, then rinse it thoroughly and shake it out well before placing it on its drying stand out of direct sunlight.

Do I need a prescription to buy the Bongo Rx?

The Bongo Rx is a medical device and can only be purchased with an appropriate prescription. If you don’t have a prescription, or if your prescription has expired, we can help. Once you place your order, you’ll be able to schedule a complimentary consultation with an independent, board-certified sleep provider from our third-party network.

Is Bongo Rx covered by insurance?

EPAP devices like the Bongo Rx are considered an emerging therapy for sleep apnea and are rarely covered by insurance providers. However, the Bongo Rx is available to veterans through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
