Fisher & Paykel suggests the following steps for keeping your Vitera Full Face Mask clean: 

  1. Remove the headgear and cushion from the mask frame, and the swivel from the elbow. 
  2. The frame, swivel, and cushion should be hand-washed in warm, soapy water after every use, while the headgear should be washed once a week in the same fashion. 
  3. No mask parts should be left to soak for more than ten minutes at a time. 
  4. After washing, the mask parts should be rinsed with clean water and left to dry out of direct sunlight.

What is a full face CPAP Mask?

The cushion on a full face CPAP mask reaches from the bridge of your nose to the space beneath your lower lip. This design allows you to receive the correct air pressure whether you breathe through your nostrils or mouth.

The Vitera has a lower profile than most full face masks, making it an appealing choice for people who wear glasses, watch TV before bed, or experience claustrophobia with bulkier masks. People who sleep on their side or change positions throughout the night should also find that the proprietary cushion keeps a tight seal that lasts until the morning. 

Who shouldn’t use the Fisher & Paykel Vitera Full Face Mask?

Full face masks like the Vitera are less effective for people with facial hair, as hair trapped beneath the cushion can cause the seal to fail or increase the risk of skin irritation. People who dislike the feeling of a silicone cushion may prefer a mask that uses a different material.

Are the Fisher & Paykel Vitera Full Face Mask’s cushions replaceable?

The Vitera’s silicone cushions can be replaced and are available in small, medium, and large. Fisher & Paykel recommends that the cushions should be replaced every 6 to 12 months, or once they start showing damage like discoloration, cracking, or tearing. 

How do I know which size to choose for the Fisher & Paykel Vitera Full Face Mask?

The Vitera Fit Pack comes with small, medium and large cushions so that you can try each and decide which fits you best. This fit pack only includes medium/large headgear, although the small size headgear can be purchased separately. 

Which CPAP machines can I use with the Fisher & Paykel Vitera Full Face Mask?

The Vitera, like most CPAP masks, is compatible with CPAP, APAP, and BiPAP machines that use hoses with standard, rubber-tipped 22-millimeter ends. This category includes almost all PAP machines aside from some travel models, such as the ResMed AirMini, that use proprietary hoses.

    This is good IF you sleep on your back. I'm a side and tummy sleeper so the mask loses it's seal. Trying a different type of mask.
