Automatic positive air pressure (APAP) therapy is a more flexible and comfortable alternative to traditional CPAP. APAP machines automatically adjust pressure delivery based on your breathing patterns during the night, rather than delivering air at a fixed setting. As a result, many people are able to inhale and exhale more easily with APAP devices.

The Transcend Micro does not feature a built-in humidifier. If you need extra moisture during your therapy, the device is compatible with disposable Heat Moisture Exchange (HME) cartridges that supply moisture into the tubing without using water. These cartridges are sold separately, and should be replaced on a weekly basis.

The Transcend Micro is universally compatible with any full-face, nasal, or nasal pillow CPAP face mask on the market.

At maximum volume, the Transcend Micro produces 26 decibels (dBA) of noise. Comparatively, other travel CPAP machines produce up to 30 dBA of noise, making the Transcend Micro a relatively quiet option.

The Transcend Micro is FAA-compatible and has been authorized for in-flight use. The device automatically adjusts pressure based on the altitude. Depending on which carrier you choose, you may need to bring a doctor’s note — some airlines require proof of prescription for passengers who wish to use PAP devices on planes.
